Narita Airport, Terminal 1 Klein Dytham architecture

Just discovered this prolific design/architecture studio made of Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, both “internationalists”.

On the Klein Dytham site you can find some intruiging tag-lines:

“Design is often like playing jazz. Lay down a structuring rhythm, find a snappy theme, and then improvise.”

Metropolis hotel – project renderings

metropolis hotel, view from room entrance

metropolis hotel, view from room entrance

As far as hotel designs go, this one is by far most innovative I have seen recently. Not only it DOESN`T rely heavily on designer objects, but it also introduces a cocoon for toilet/shower in the middle of the room. It is by applying interesting decoration that this cocoon becomes a part of the overall design, and a means of distinguishing this project from many other seen previously.

Brent Comber is well known for his shattered tables and stools made of solid wood. His work relies heavy on the beauty of nature and natural objects, and is eco-friendly at the same time – using pieces of wood that wolud otherwise be descarded.
Now, at showrom of Obakki, a canadian store that showcases local designs, Brent Comber has made the largest ever design piece from shattered wood.
